Here are answers to some common questions about Felted Fleece Rugs...
A felted fleece rug is a luxurious and eco-friendly addition to any home. Made from 100% natural wool fibers. The rugs are both sustainable and cruelty-free, as the wool is sourced from free-roaming sheep that are not subjected to harmful practices.
The rugs are soft, plush texture that feels wonderful underfoot, providing a warm and cozy atmosphere to any room. The colours of the rugs are versatile and timeless, making it a great choice for any décor style.
Our rugs are easy to maintain, as they naturally repels dirt.
Not only is a felted wool rug beautiful and sustainable, but it also has a low environmental impact. Wool is a renewable resource that is biodegradable and compostable, making it a great choice for eco-conscious consumers.
Overall, a wool rug is a high-quality and ethical choice for anyone looking to add a touch of luxury and sustainability to their home décor.
Cruelty free products normally refer to products that have not been tested on animals. But this rug is very sheep friendly as it only uses the unwanted fleece of the sheep after it no longer requires its use in the spring/summer.
Using an old tradition of wet felting which involves hot water, soap and lots of hard work I make a new backing out of felt. We do not use any wool to make the backing of the rug from Merino sheep which are sometimes involved in cruel practices of husbandry overseas.
Most of the rugs are made by us but we do like to support other wool artists so we have some made by them as well. Details in the description of the rug.
I strive to ethically source the fleeces I use for my rugs, primarily obtaining them from pet sheep and a select number of sheep sanctuaries located in the UK. Additionally, I acquire some fleeces from friends and acquaintances, all of which originate from farms practicing high standards of animal welfare.
I take pride in ensuring the traceability of the materials used in my rugs. In many instances, I can provide you with detailed information about the specific source of the fleece, offering full transparency in the production process.
For those with vegetarian or plant-based preferences, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'm more than happy to assist you in finding the most suitable rug that aligns with your ethical choices and requirements.
